My Lucky #13 was one of my most anticipated reads this year since it pairs three of my favorite things: Piper Rayne, sports romance and hockey. It did not disappoint!We first met Aiden and Saige in the novella Countdown to a Kiss, where they attended the same New Year's Eve party and the evening ended with Saige throwing a glass of white wine in Aiden's face. While you don't have to read the novella before starting this book, it will only add to your enjoyment.Aiden is the Captain of the Florida Fury hockey team and he's currently in a scoring slump. Management isn't happy with him and with the trade deadline looming, he's got to pull himself out of it or he likely will be calling somewhere else home. In the first game following New Year's, he ends up scoring a hat trick. For a player who didn't believe in superstitions, should he reconsider?Saige is the owner of a social media company where she helps people manage their online presence. She's working with quite a few athletes and when she first meets Aiden, it's due to her date, Joran, who happens to be his agent. The one thing she knows is she doesn't want to be involved with anymore athletes after her last relationship ended in disaster.Aiden decides he needs to seek Saige out to have more wine thrown at him. If this works and he keeps scoring, will she be willing to keep this up before every game? Aiden is more attracted to Saige now than he was at the party, but knowing she's involved with his agent, he'd never make a move, but he's finding it harder and harder as they spend more time together. I am a sucker for a sports romance and when it's hockey, it just sweetens the pot. I loved that Aiden was a gentleman and bided his time and was respectful to both Saige and Joran. This was a slow burn type of romance and I appreciated it. I'm intrigued by the other teammates and I'm looking forward to what is going to be coming down the pike. A winning start to this new series! Hot, hot, hot!! That is how I would review this book. Aiden is a professional hockey player and wears Lucky #13. He goes to a New Years party with his 2 best friends and team players named Ford and Maksim at the owner of the team's house. There he meets a beautiful woman who does her best to ignore him until she sees 2 very young ladies literally throw themselves at him. So she does what any kind self respecting woman would do and saves him. Later at the party they run into each other again. Aiden asks if she wouldn't mind walking with him to find the orange Grove on the back of the property and she agrees. He finds out her name is Reese and she helps people with their social media apps. He shares with her that he is in a kind of slump in the game and doesn't know why..After their walk they are heading back to the party and Aiden's manager comes out looking for him and comes to find out that Reese is his manager's date. As h. Way to make somee goes to kiss her goodbye she throws a glass of white wine in his face and walks off. Surprise is that the next game he starts scoring again. His teammates tell him that whatever he did to keep it up.Aiden realizes the only thing different was when she got him with the wine,, so if that's what it takes for him to play better than he will have to ask her to keep it up. He feels very protective of Reese and asks her to help him with his social media apps as well as making a deal to splash wine in his face before every game.They make a deal to help each other and then begins their friendship and possibly more.I loved this story..so much true feelings coming from both of them.
